With St. Patrick’s Day coming up, I thought I’d take some time to share about my favorite color- green (moss green to be exact). Anyone who knows me is quite aware that I love green. In fact – those closest to me – like my husband and my mother – tend to fuel my obsession by gifting me with all things green when they have the chance. It’s my favorite color to wear and, predictably, my favorite color to decorate with.
I know I’m a little – or maybe a lot – biased, but research has also proven that green is a fitting color to decorate any home with. I’m not the only one who loves it!
Because it’s such a prevalent color in nature, green helps to bring the outside in. You get to experience a bit of the look and feel of nature from the comfort of your air-conditioned space. Green is also a restful color and is proven to relieve stress. If your goal is to create a home that is comfortable and inviting, green is the perfect color to add to your decor.

There are many colors that compliment green in a home. Throughout the main part of my home, I have chosen to use gray, burnt orange and navy blue to complete my color scheme. These timeless colors are the perfect combination for any home. The medium gray is a fitting color for the walls as it creates warmth and sophistication. Olive green, burnt orange and navy are used in blankets, throw pillows, lamps and more around my home. This side chair was one of the first pieces I bought when I began to decorate our home. I couldn’t resist it given that its pattern includes all of the colors I planned to use in my home. I also love to throw in some gold accents – like mirrors and picture frames – to tie everything together.
Green isn’t just a St. Patrick’s Day thing! It’s a wonderful color to add to any home’s design all year round.
