Have an extra bedroom in your home that’s not serving much of a purpose? How about transforming that space into a place for your guests to stay?

The guest bedroom should be a warm and inviting retreat for anyone staying in your home. Here are a few things you can do to turn your “blank slate” of a bedroom into a colorful and welcoming space for your guests.
- Choose a color scheme. I chose to pull both the yellow and gray out of the comforter to decorate with. The bright yellow and cool gray are the perfect combination for a guest room.
- Fill in blank spaces with artwork. I hung the black wood mirrors from Kirklands on each side of the windows to frame them. I also placed a couple of hymn art canvas pieces in the room to add interest.
- Add texture with a range of fabrics. Floor length striped curtains from Target were added to frame the windows. On the bed, I chose two warm yellow pillows and a gray pillow along with a yellow throw (all from Target as well). A tan accent chair was also added with a fun pillow and gray throw.
- Create warmth with lighting. Reading lamps were added to each side of the bed on accent tables.
Adding warmth and texture to your extra bedroom will make it the perfect place for your guests to stay!
